We’re developing a youth makerspace program that opens the door to science, engineering, and construction. Participants will explore their interests, learn to work with tools and technology, and make room for creativity, resilience, and grit.
Our aim is to remove barriers to making. As we grow, we intend to expand into summer camps and school partnerships, and seek funding for reduced-price tuition and full scholarships.

Hands-on projects. Time to experiment. A chance to follow an interest further. Here’s what we’re planning for our first pilot.
- Our first group
- A small pilot with a goal of 12 students, ages 11–14.
- Afternoons for making
- Proposed Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday sessions, approximately 3–6 p.m.
- Ideas worth exploring
- Themed activities, including possibilities such as 3D printing and chemistry, with room for students’ own ideas.
- People to learn with
- Plans for volunteer subject-matter experts and monthly family Saturdays to tinker together and share discoveries.

Where will the program take place?
We’re planning for the Portland area. The exact venue and arrival and pickup arrangements are still being finalized.
Can I volunteer or collaborate?
Yes—please get in touch. We’re interested in hearing from makers and subject-matter experts, as well as schools and organizations with overlapping missions. Roles and requirements will be discussed before participation.
